After J.B. Holmes was at the top of the leader board for most of the WGC Cadillac Championship, I think it was expected that he would win the tournament, but Dustin Johnson had other ideas. Dustin Johnson was five back at the start of the final around, but after Holmes had three bogeys in his first six holes of the day, Johnson took advantage and won his ninth tour victory.
Rory McIlroy is the number one golfer in the world right now, but that doesn’t make him perfect. He started off slow during the first nine holes at the Honda Classic, but he ended the day with birdies at the 17th and 18th. He starts today at 4 over and I think he will have a much better day on the course!
Brandt Snedeker wins his 2nd Pebble Beach Pro-Am with a final score of -22. He beat Nick Watney by 3 who was doing his best to take the top spot, but fell short. With this win, Snedeker is qualified for the Masters. Congratulations Brandt Snedeker!
John Daly finished his 1st round today at the Pebble Beach AT&T National Pro-Am at -7 and tied for 3rd! He had an impressive day on the course ending with a 65, his lowest 1st round score in a decade. He also had on some sharp pants!! Go get ’em John!!
I’m sad to say that I’m only now learning about the accomplishments of Billy Casper who won 51 times on the PGA tour. He was amazing golfer and equally amazing family man who was married to his high school sweetheart Shirley for 62 years. They have 11 children together including 6 adopted children. Rest in peace Billy Casper.
The Farmers Insurance Open had a lot of drama this week. It started off with Tiger Woods withdrawing due to injury then Phil Mickelson missing the cut. On the final day today, the winner was determined after a four-man playoff where Jason Day beat out English, Stallings, and Holmes to take home the trophy. Congratulations!!
The Waste Management Phoenix Open has been a blast to watch! It’s like they combined a golf tournament with a rock concert. lol I was watching it live yesterday when Francesco Molinari of Italy aced the 16th hole which made the stadium crowd go crazy cheering…and throwing a lot of beer! Congrats to Molinari on a great day yesterday. Still waiting to see who wins the tournament today.
Anyone else watch the Humana Golf Challenge today from La Quinta, California? Congratulations to Bill Haas for a great win! It was close until the very end. One shocking thing that happened there today (or at least shocking to me lol) was the presence of bighorn sheep on the course! I’ve seen many different kinds of birds on a course during play and Florida courses get alligators occasionally, but today there were at least two bighorn sheep grazing on the golf course while the golfers just played through. The sheep didn’t seem fazed as they continued eating their afternoon snack!
Wow! It’s hard to believe Jack could be 75 years old, but yes folks, he is! He was born January 21st, 1940 in Columbus, Ohio. I think he is hands down the best golfer of all-time! Wishing him many more birthdays!!! 🙂
